I'M SO HOLLYWOOD
With all the extensive walking I've been doing lately, I've also encountered more beggars and homeless dudes than I normally would. Some of them have been among the more interesting people I've met. Today as I left my interview at the ArcLight Theater to get on the subway, I was approached by a man who needed change to buy his ticket. I didn't have any so I told him I was sorry and kept walking. Then he just said "Screw it! They never check tickets anyway." It’s true. They don't. So as I made my way down the stairs, he was behind me and asked, "Are you married?" "No." "Why not?" "I don't know." "You should be. You're beautiful." "Thank you." I wasn't even about to lecture him on why being beautiful has nothing to do with marriage because I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been worth it.
Yesterday's dude: I was walking around in Hollywood when suddenly this man laying in the shade on the sidewalk said hello and asked how I was doing. I naturally said "Fine, thanks. How are you?" He told me how beautiful he thought the day was and asked me for some change telling me that he didn't do any drugs. Trying to be optimistic, I took a good look at him and decided he didn't look like a junkie at all and gave him some change. As I looked for it, he complimented my shirt which was no surprise since I was giving him money, but it was a nice gesture. Then we got to talking about movies and had a nice 10 minute talk about Rosemary's Baby.
Those have been my favorites among the many. Yesterday proved to be an interesting adventure. Julio dropped me off near the movie theater so I could go apply for a job. I wandered around for a little while since I was in Hollywood. Why not, right? Then I kind of just felt like getting back to Los Feliz (my new ‘hood). Hollywood Blvd. hits not too far south of the apartment, and I just so happened to be on that very street. I knew it was pretty far, but how far? I decided to skip the subway and see how long it would take to walk all the way back in the middle of the day. I can’t say it was among my brightest of ideas, but I got some GREAT exercise. I actually walked for almost an hour and a half. I never figured out the distance, but I’m sure its something substantial. In the evening I got a call about my application. It was the next step: a phone interview. I passed (whatever that means) and was told to come in for a group interview at 7pm today. Thus today’s SUBWAY trip back out to Hollywood. The group interview was actually pretty fun. There were some cool people. There was this one guy who was in my group both times we had to split up and he was totally my favorite. He was really funny and kinda cute. I’m pretty sure he said he just graduated from college. That’s in my range, right? Of course it is. People always tell me I shouldn’t date people my own age anyway. So yeah, a couple hours ago, I got called again by ArcLight people and I have my one-on-one interview with a manager set for tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will also give me my BCBG schedule. I seriously can’t wait for that to start. I’m not even bothered by the lack of pay.
That's all for tonight's adventure. Goodnight!

"Looking out for #1, California here we come!" -Phantom Planet
Today begins my city life. I arrived around noon-time and have been soaking things in for the past 8 hours or so. My flights…happened. Upon my arrival in L.A. I was greeted by the ‘friendly’ Super Shuttle people. Some Asian dude who was in the van with us got all sassy on the driver because he couldn’t use his voucher. Then the driver threatened to call the cops and Asian guy flipped out. The other girls and I just kind of sat impatiently and made fun of the dueling accents. Anywho, I eventually made it to Matt’s apartment where I could finally verify Julio’s existence. Too bad Matt is still busy filming Anna Nicole’s special in Bahama-land. I don’t even know when he’s going to get back. In the mean time, I’ll just keep running around and seeing what I can find. After discovering how little food was in the kitchen, I ventured out to find a grocery store. Since I find of went the wrong way, I just decided to walk around for a bit and explore. I found some yoga and pilates places that are easy to walk to, so I suppose it wouldn’t be such a terrible idea to sign up for some classes. Yeah. Looks like there may be some places I can apply for jobs too, so maybe I’ll run around more tomorrow and do that. Okay, Matt just called from his cell phone, meaning he’s back in the country. He claims to be returning on Monday. It’ll be good to see him, but I think I’m going to clean up a little here. His room and the kitchen are not quite what I would call ‘pristine’. It’s the least I can do for his birthday. I’ll take him out to eat when he gets home too. This has to beat his birthday last year…sicknesses and 2 muggings in Peru. Eek. It looks like this trip should be fun. The sexyman count has probably already exceeded that of Denton. Maybe I can snake a date or two while I'm here...
Before I, left Kayla and I got down to business on the ultimate drill team assignment. At Spring Show I had made some joke about an Alumni Club. Henson thought that idea was too good to pass up and now we’ve been commissioned to start this club. We’ve done labels, letter, info sheets and LOTS of planning. So, P.S. If you were a KBBCer, you’ll be getting a letter in the mail pretty soon. If you don’t, tell me and I’ll be sure you get the info. As lame as this potentially could be, I think it’ll actually be pretty fun. I just hope there’s a decent turn out.
That may be about all in recent news. I’ll keep you updated on the Cali adventure as things unfold. I hope everyone is having a good summer. If you read this, let me know how things are going and what you’re up to. Have fun and be good.

"...cause I'm just a big pussy." "Well, you know what they say. You are what you eat."
Excerpt from today's conversation with Gus.
Oh yeah, Gus talked to me today. Weird.
Alright kids, I think this internship is REALLY going to happen. The coolest part is that its for BCBG. If you don't know what that is, you wouldn't appreciate it anyway, so don't worry. Last night I got an e-mail from an HR lady telling me that all their internships are unpaid...(fine) and MUST be for credit...(uh oh). So I kind of freaked out but I figured I could work something out. (side note) This morning my mom woke me up with a stack of mail and papers. She handed me my self addressed envelope which contained the results of my fashion design portfolio review. I read the first sentence, but it wasn't anything about whether or not I got in, so I was kind of afraid to unfold the paper and read the rest. I got in though (and so did Julia) so everything is happy. Anyway we have to e-mail this professer telling her which class sections we want for our fashion classes and thats where this story actually ties in to the internship...So I e-mailed prof lady seeing if there was any way I could get credit for this. She wrote me back telling me that I can sign up for a Summer I course that's just for internship credit. Hell yeah!
I had planned on leaving Monday afternoon, but I called my brother today and apparently he's been "wrangled" into going to the Bahamas to shoot some Anna Nicole special. What the hell?! Why would you have to "wrangle" someone into going on vacation where you get paid? Whatever. The point is, I'm not leaving until Thursday...and I'm going to ask Matt to get something signed by Anna Nicole. Teehee.
I FINALLY got to see my Stacey on Tuesday night for a few hours before she left for Spain. Its so weird that before this year, we had never even been apart for more than that 3 weeks she went to Europe in junior high, since 5th grade anyway. It was good to see her. Kayla and I made her this hilarious picture book. Every page had a theme, such as "drill team girls in drill team clothes" and "we're outside". The best part though, there was a Debbie on EVERY page. Oh P.S.-8 days until the ultimate Debbie wedding. I'm sad that I'll miss it and PISSED off that she didn't invite us.
My car is gone. I took it to the shop today and now that I'm not leaving for a week, it kind of sucks that I don't have it. Oh well. My mom still thinks I should be driving some seriously un-fun cars so I keep upping my insanity. She likes all these stupid mom cars. I'm not a mom. I told her I don't want to look like one, and that I'd much prefer to look like a rich dad. She told me I wasn't rich or a dad, which is true, but don't 2 negatives make a positive? I believe they do. Of course,I know she's not going to get me a rich dad car so I should really just get over it. For the first time EVER, we agree on a good car for me. The Mazda6. She's purdy. Finding a used one we like could be an issue though. Damn. I've learned though, that if my mom likes something enough, she'll spend her money. Hopefully she likes ME enough.
This diet...man. I cheat kind of a lot, but I don't give up, so its starting to work. Finally. Seeing how my brother is the hugest health nut alive, I'll probably be pretty good while I'm there. I just hope he lets me eat SOME bad stuff. I mean, when I had mono, he got all pissed at my mom because she let me eat ground beet. Yeah, what?
I think this is enough. Have a hetero-fabulous day.

'...Ride me like a black Mercedes...'
Okay, so my days since May 11th have been much better. I've got a police report file, an insurance statement stated, and my car will be fixed sometime in the near future. Sad part: My cute little car will no longer be mine once it gets fixed. She and her beautifully voluptuous, curvy body will be traded in for something more practical and waterproof. My dad hasn't laughed at me yet about the Mercedes E320s I found with reasonable price and mileage...awesome. Of course my mom seems to think that a Buick or a Golf would be a great choice. If she's going to take my car that I love and give me something I hate and will have to keep for a LONG time, I will surely pout. Seeing how I did nothing wrong to lose my bootylicious car, I will take my brat/snob rights and run with them.
Thursday was good. I waited all week to have my date with Gilda. She did some wonderful work and I love my hair. Gilda is the best. Thursday evening, a Comedy Sportz match was underway up at the Katy High School, so I went with Jenna, Lauren Ratliff, and Brittany Stewart. It was students vs. faculty which is the entire reason I went. It was pretty funny and it was good to see the girls and Kiel and the Kristoffer. Afterward, Kayla and I met up and IHOPped and some dude kept looking at us from across the whole place. Whatever. It was good to see her and catch up on tales of drama and drunkenness. We went shopping on Friday for Rose Banquet stuff because Ms. Kayla needed a new dress. I thought I would be temped to buy one too, but Windsor's unimpressive collection had proven me wrong. They had some of the most atrocious formals and semi-formals I've ever seen. It was white trash and bad Versace knock-offs out the ass. It was upsetting. I've found so many cool dresses there in the past. Why Windsor, why?
Going back to Rose Banquet was fun but kind of strange. Seeing only 5 of the 44 girls I graduated with felt...funny. It was great to see everyone, especially Henson, Thompson, and all my babies from last year. By the end of the night, Kayla and I had faced the fact that we would be the last people to leave, just like Spring Show, last year's banquet, last year's Spring Show, and probably 80% of practices our senior year. We carried some boxes to Henson's car, valet parked it for her, and were officially the last ones out of the parking lot. We graduated, but we're still on the team...
Friday Vivian (the internship lady) finally called me! She gave me her friend's number at a different company because apparently she would like to have me and that would probably be a better opportunity for what I really want to do. Hopefully I can get ahold of this one in a timely manner and get everything figured out. I'll be going out to Los Angeles this weekend-ish and I'll probably be there until late July/early August. I may even get to apartment-sit for 6 weeks. That means I'll have my own bed...and the rest of the apartment, but at my brother's I won't even have a read bed. Anyway, I'm totally ready to go do this.
In other travel news, I may be going up to Denton next week as well. I need to take care of a couple things at school and I'll stay a couple days to see people and whatnot. This, of course, will not happen if I have to leave my car to get fixed right away. I should be able to wait since its all body work, I think.
Tomorrow will determine that I suppose. Tomorrow is also the day we're watching Sophia, so she'll be over here all day. AWW. Maybe I'll finally get to see Stacey too...

I thank Buddha that Tuesday May 11, 2004 will never happen again.
Almost all of it sucked. I was woken up around 9:15 by my mom calling to remind me that I had a dentist appointment at 10. Crap. I actually stayed in bed a few more minutes, leaving me a whopping 10 minutes to brush, floss, wash my face and get dressed. I made it to the dentist on time despite the ugly weather and strange lack of parking. (I had to park at the scuba shop across the street in hopes that my car would still be there when I left.) Usually going to the dentist isn't THAT bad because I'm familiar with all the people and Dr. Hammond is a pretty cool guy. This time though, I had that other dentist who works there, Dr. Thompson, or as he introduced himself to me, Trey Thompson. Aren't the dental hygenists supposed to clean your teeth? That's what I thought too, but no. He cleaned my teeth, which he is OBVIOUSLY not used to doing. I could tell because he stabbed my gums several times with that awful scraping thing. He asked me a ton of questions while I had lots of tools in my mouth, so naturally it was a little difficult to answer, but I did my best. He smiled at me a lot and gave me some free stuff. If his ultimate goal was to creep me out a little bit, he won the prize. The drive home from the dentist was actually worse than the trip there, but at least my car wasn't towed and I got home safe.
So once I got home, I was planning to hang out with Brad for a while because he wanted to see some of the work I had done over the year. I looked for my slides and never found them (until a few hours ago when I cleaned my car). Then Sean called asking if I could watch Sophia while he went and did some stuff for his teacher certification. Of course I can! So I'm back on the road in the rain going about 25 on I-10. I was about a mile from my exit when an 18 wheeler changed lanes INTO THE SIDE OF MY CAR. What the hell?! He got back in his lane real fast until I was past him. Then he got behind me, got into the exit lane but didn't exit...but that was my exit and I had already lost him amongst the other trucks on the road. The only information I could get was the truck company and after looking them up, I know that there are several called Vargas Trucking. Fuck him though, for speeding off like that. Whatever, I got to Sean's finally and Sophia was asleep almost the whole time he was gone. I stayed a while though because it was life unreal outside. There were tornadoes and stuff, so I waited until everything bad passed and left. My car had leaked like nobody's business though. There were puddles in the front 2 seats and the back window had leaked into the place where the top goes when it opens. I dried off my seat before I left, but it didn't matter because I got dripped on profusely the entire way home. Once I got home, everything was sufficiently under control, so that was the end of the worst.
Today has been better, and I'm glad.

Update much?
Alright, so I'm done with finals and I'm home. I guess its been a while. The semester is over and that's pretty yay for me. I'm glad I got out of that wretched room too. Now I'm home and I wish everyone else was too. I couldn't go to Austin over the weekend because it wasn't worth the fight with my parents. Boo! Katy has been sufficiently boring since I got here but I've had some good moments. I went to a party that was at least a comfortable ratio of high school to out of high school folk. It would have been cooler if 2 people did not try to bang me in the hot tub. Not that I don't appreciate the attention, but please guys, control yourselves. I got to see baby Sophia on Thursday and oh my gosh, she's the cutest thing. She's getting all chubby, she hardly cries at all, and Sean and Marissa seem really happy. I went up to school on Friday to see Ms. Henson and all my babies at their practice. I was so good to see everyone and get to talk to them. Of course the Hens thought it would be good for the girls if I watched the dance they'll be doing for the first game (in Reliant Stadium!) and then sit them down and talk to them for a little while about some of the stuff I know is important. It was a little strange coming back and doing a total Henson-style speech, but I was kind of used to trying to get them pumped so it wasn't so bad. I hope the have more fun next year than they did this year because nobody even cried at spring show and that weirded me out. ANYWAY, I'm still trying to work out all this internship business, but I need this lady to CALL ME BACK. Today's trip to the Galleria was a little disappointing due to the bad hat selection at Neiman Marcus and the pants at Macy's telling me I'm a big girl. We dropped in the Louis store (like we could afford it) because my mom likes the little dog carrier they make, but they have some kick ass shoes and the ones I wanted were only $950, what a bargain! I may buy 2 pairs...in another life. I did get some shorts, mascara and lipstick-type-stuff elsewhere though. I think my dad is finally going to get a new car. Its about frickin' time. We'll see how this goes. The South Beach Diet is upon me and this crap better work because I've got some clothes that I miss wearing. I know I'm not 'fat', but i could definitely stand to drop this chub that I never even knew I was capable of having.
I guess that's about it for now...I miss my Denton folks though. You guys have a good summer! As for the K-Town kids, I'm SO glad I get to see you, yay!
